Sunrise Café is 3 years old! Thanks to everyone who has helped Sunrise Café become what it is!
A very special thanks to Norris Smith- first, for challenging me to make the changes in my life that I had been mulling over for too long a time; second, for acting as my contractor to get the physical set up work done in a record 5 1/2 weeks; third, for being my left hand line cook, dining room manager, emergency plumber and electrician for almost 2 years. I couldn’t have done it without you!
Thanks to my son Jesse for putting up with my decision to disrupt our lives and move to Kennett. Thanks for putting up with my long work days, our late dinners and living in an old house. Thanks also for whatever it is you do out in the dining room on Sundays…you do it so well.
Thanks to Chrissy Hovde and Brittany DeTitta for their patience and hard work those first few weeks, when we didn’t know what to expect any given day and especially the first day, when we opened the door to waiting customers only to discover that we had neither cash for the register nor the knowledge to use it.
Thanks to Kim Bach for coming too late in the afternoon for a cup of coffee and agreeing to start work the following day. And thanks for continuing to work for us. Your enthusiasm, support, flowers and love are very much appreciated.
Thanks to Elizabeth Frediani for teaching me what to do with the Cuisinart and for teaching me how to make scones.
Thanks to artiste extraordinaire, Dragonfly Leathrum for working 1 day a week, doing whatever prep work needed to be done and then icing whatever I had baked. Thanks for sharing your years of cake icing expertise and your unique outlook on life.
Thanks to Mary Hutchins and Marge Wolfe for initiating me to the “ways Kennett” and welcoming Sunrise into the merchant community.
Thanks to Ken Johnson for rescuing me from physical and mental exhaustion. Your off beat perspective and intellectual stimulation keep work fun!
Thanks to Deb Hirst for bringing professional, good humored service to our diners. In addition, thanks for being a friend!
Thanks to “The Kids”, the current weekend warriors who give up their extra hours of sleep on weekend mornings to come and help make the show happen! Thanks to Arnie Caine for suggesting such a life altering change and for being a pleasant, considerate land lord.
And last but not least, thanks to my parents for NOT discouraging my sometimes off beat dreams, for recognizing my creative energy and for always being there for me.
